... MatTheWriter's Sporadic Blog thing - [ new ! image gallery ]

Back to where it all started - part 2.

May 16th, 2007

There's still a lot to do on iamsad.co.uk to bring it up-to-date, but for now it's reached its time-limit.

However, there is an area of work that overlaps this project and that one, and a few others too - visitor-tracking, traffic monitoring, search engine optimisation and that kind of thing.

Todo

  1. Check the installation of the tracker and the reports
  2. Add a spider counter to the page footer
  3. Create a new tool for checking PageRank once a day
  4. Set up postion monitoring, (once we know what keywords we might want to target).

But first...

... there are a few house-keeping issues to attend to, like adding a date and time to paragraphs to make it easier to feature a date, and sorting out the standard paragraph options; ordered lists, unordered lists and text-align.

It's a day later, time to make it easy to display that. OK, that's the paragraph date added, and the PageRank grabber and the beginnings of a new version of the MJB main traffic report. Now all we need is som traffic. And I suppose before that we really need some worthwhile content. Ah yes - that old issue.

Slow progress

One of the main problems about writing about the thing you're building is that as soon as you make a comment about a change or addition that has just popped into your head, you then immediately become totally occupied with the thing you've thought of. And by the time you've addressed that, the original thread has gone cold.

Ah well. Such is web-development I suppose.

Back to work

I have 1 week to get 2 weeks' work done before I and the family scoot off to Deutschland, so I might have to leave this and my other half-baked ideas alone for a while.

I'm not sure if I ever will spoil this site with 3rd party ads, but the layout has been conceived to allow big fat banners here.
