Another half-baked idea fresh from the bakery.
I should be working. I should be dealing with the 80 or so emails in my inbox but I just can't face it - it's all too much. So, instead, I seem to have found myself conceiving a new project, Cambridge Creatives.
It's not a new idea. It's something I've been meaning to put together for ages. The concept is a pretty simple directory focusing on anyone and everyone who might describe themselves as a professional creative - designers, artists, filme-makers, and so on.
If I can manage to get 50 or more people to enter their details I think I'd find it quite useful myself. Because most of our work at MJB Data is development rather than design we don't have a full-time in-house designer and it can be difficult sometimes to find someone who fits right designer-shaped hole that some projects have.
There's the usual chicken/egg situation now of course. People will be incouraged to register if the site can demonstrate that it gets relevant traffic and it will get traffic probably only after a signnificant number of people have registered. Ah well, at least I've got the first boring form out of the way - time for a play with some images...
Day 2 and we already have a couple of registrations. I suppose I now have to list them.
I'm not sure if I ever will spoil this site with 3rd party ads, but the layout has been conceived to allow big fat banners here.
Perhaps I should start advertising 'Create your own version of this website for just £9.99 a month!'
Any takers? Enquiries by email please.
